Pharmacy Schools Spotlight: Touro College of Pharmacy

Touro College of Pharmacy offers an interesting 2+2 PharmD program. This involves two years of didactic teaching, while the remaining two years are spent within an experiential program. This is two years in the classroom and two years in the real world. Most pharmacy schools usually have a 3+1 program, which makes the 2+2 structure unique, and could be appealing to many people who seek more experience than the usual one year of practice offered in a standard pharmd program. Moreover, the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) is not required at the moment for admission, and a minimum GPA of 2.50 is required to apply. Touro College of Pharmacy is also located in the heart of New York City – Manhattan for those that prefer the urban life with lots of activity; the college therefore holds one of the highest ‘walkscore’ ratings of 97. Touro College of Pharmacy is also a program that is very focused on public health in addition to having very modern facilities.
