IMHO, It is tough to find a job as a pharmacist these days. Seems as if there are as many pharmacists as lawyers. With new pharmacy schools emerging, and existing schools increasing the size of their classes, it is no wonder the bubble will burst if it hasn’t already popped. For those seeking hospital pharmacy positions, it is tougher when the individual has only retail experience since the two paths hold very different skillsets. I recommend to those students who are graduating to seek a hospital position first, rather than a retail pharmacist position. It is easier for a hospital pharmacist to go back into retail than vice versa. Another trend that I see is that the job market for pharmacists are a bit more ripe in the less populated rural areas than in the urban metropolitan cities.
